With the Main Event winding down, I though it would be a good time to go back and look at my predictions that I made prior to the WSOP and see how they went:

I'm Sure her and Humberto are "just friends."

Prediction 1: Phil Hellmuth will get his 12th bracelet.
To quote on of my friend’s younger sister, “Epic Fail!” Hellmuth did not even make a final table. While he did cash five times, including the Main Event, he just could not put it together late to make the final table.
Prediction 2: Scotty Nguyen will not win $4 Million but he will win another bracelet.
One cash. Scotty had one cash for $33k. It was an 11th place finish, but still, a very poor WSOP showing for the prince of poker. I got this half right. Of course, the half I got right was a no brainer.
Prediction 3: Vanessa Rousso will have a strong WSOP.
Well, I could claim either victory or defeat on this one. Rousso did have four cashes at the WSOP, which is her career best. She did finish 27th in the $40,000 NL Event. However, I expected her to do even better. Of course, it’s all relative. She still made over $120,000 for her WSOP. I’m going to claim a win on this one just due to the fact it was her career best for overall money at the WSOP.
Prediction 4: Overall attendance will be down for the Main Event.
Unfortunately, this was spot on, but not because of the reasons that I thought. Had Harrah’s decided against a Day 1d sellout, this prediction would have been defeated as the Main Event may have well broken 7,000 players. Better luck next year guys.
So in the end, I hit 62.5% of my predictions. I still wish I had made my Ivey prediction, but I didn’t want to seem like a total fanboy. Sometime in the next couple of weeks, I will make some predictions about what might be changed for the 2010 WSOP. Stay tuned.
