WSOP Main Event Day 5 Evening Update – Shrinking Field, Women, & Aggressive Rails
Day 5 is in the books with 206 players surviving the day. All surviving players are now guaranteed $48,847 and tomorrow at noon we return to play here in the Amazon room.
Amazon Room not so Amazon Anymore
Yesterday we brought you a picture of the now empty Pavilion room, but today the Amazon room is the one becoming empty.
Up until today we had 3 distinct sections in the Amazon room – blue, orange, and red. Today when we returned to the Amazon room we were down to just the orange and red sections, with the blue section broken down and essentially just a dark corner with only the banners of recent champions lit up along the wall.
As the day has progressed the orange section has been broken down leaving the other press area and outside feature section the only spots remaining.

Last Woman Standing….
Well, she’s actually the last woman sitting, since in this game when you are standing and walking away that usually means you are out, or in disgust from losing a hand.
Today we had at least 11 women start the day, but shortly after the dinner break we only had one left standing. The honor of being the last woman standing goes to Breeze Zuckerman.
She came into Day 5 with the most chips, 531k, among the women left and shortly after she became the last woman standing she had around 1.19M.
Aggressive Rails
As the day progressed the rails started to get a bit more aggressive. It has been really funny to watch over the past few weeks how these railbirds work.
They’re like vultures when empty chairs are seen around the room. They all swarm with baited breath trying to score a seat – heck just the other day our friend Pauly from Tao of Poker witnessed someone attempting to drag in a bench from the hallway to place on the rail.
Stop on the rail at any table where there is action and you’re likely to hear a spectator on the rail complaining about not being able to move and wishing the idiot in front of them would move out of the way. It is rather comical since we’re trying to do a job and you don’t see any of us coming into their office or lonely cubicle asking for them to move so we can get a better view.
After dinner today a media rail was placed just inside the regular rail so things did not get any better. Actually it became a bit worse since the media section that all regular media were inoften overtaken by the spectators. At one point I witnessed more non-media members in one section with a security guard standing just behind talking to another non-media member. Guess I will just have to move around with my elbows out to ensure I have adequate space.
Join us tomorrow as we bring the reports from the media moat, that is the rail inside the rail that we are regulated to now.
