WSOP Day 31 Second Update – Scotty Off the Wagon? and Random Pics!!
Hello once again Poker Junkies. Day 31 of the 2010 WSOP is rolling along with Erik Seidel trying to win his 9th bracelet. He is 3rd in chips with 5 players left to play. Should he win, he will tie Johnny Moss for 3rd all-time.
Not many know this, but poker journalism is part observation, part experience, and part good sources. A guy that I have been referring to during this WSOP in some of my blog has been Michael Reed. He is here working for another site but we have hung out a bit in the media booth. You will be hearing more from him here on Poker Junkie during the Main Event, but today he did me a huge favor by going around the 2010 WSOP Tournament of Champions gathering photos and some stories for our amusement.
Scotty Off the Wagon
Some of the coverage from the 2010 WSOP Tournament of Champions referred to the fact that Scotty Nguyen came into today’s TOC looking about 4 sheets to the wind. Not long afterwards, he was calling up the cocktail waitresses to give drinks to the railbirds in the stands. This naturally endeared him to the drinking crowd.
Some of you may or may not know this, but Nguyen has been trying to shape up his image during the WSOP. He claims to not be drinking during poker tournaments, and instead is drinking O’douls. Well, rumor has it that Nguyen is secretly getting the cocktail waitresses to swap out his O’douls and bring him an O’douls bottle filled with regular beer.
Random Pics!!
So I haven’t had a random pics segment for a bit. Part of the reason is that I haven’t taken the time to sort through. However, Michael sent me a few pics for your amusement.
The first came from the Tournament of Champions. Apparently Daniel Negreanu thinks that Antonio Esfandiari looks like the Phantom/Fatoush from Don’t Mess With the Zohan:
I’m not sure what Mike Matusow is saying to Phil Hellmuth, but Hellmuth looks a little uncomfortable. Dan Harrington has a look of “Oh no you didn’t!”
I had been wondering where Leif Force had been, but after seeing this picture from the $5,000 PL Omaha Hi-Lo final table, I now know he has been working for Jack Link’s Beef Jerky in the “Messin’ With Sasquatch” segments:
This final picture is from the TOC. As you can see, Annie and Daniel are at the same table and they do not look happy. However, take a look at Scotty on the left hand side. Is it me, or is he doing some serious praying right there? I wonder if it’s allowed by the WSOP tournament rules.
Come back tomorrow as we bring you more from Day 32 of the 2010 World Series of Poker
