WSOP Day 29 Update – Headliners Making Final Tables and Doyle Brunson Battles John Juanda Via Twitter
Day 29 at the 2010 WSOP was a relative uneventful one. Two final tables are underway with the HORSE World Championship and the Event #42 $1,500 NL playing to completion tonight. The Mixed Holdem Event is playing to a final table while the $5,000 PLO Hi-Lo and the Event #45 $1,500 NL are in Day 1 action.
Smith and Pilgirm Poised to Make Mixed Holdem Final
The $2,500 Mixed Holdem Event is down to just 11 players and unless they make a monumental blunder and bust out early, both Gavin Smith and Dwyte Pilgrim will make the final table of this event. Pilgrim has made a name for himself on the WSOP Circuit where he has won 3 WSOP-C Rings, including one WSOP-C Main Event title. He is looking for his first bracelet. Smith has over $4.8 Million in tournament winnings but does not have a WSOP bracelet. This has the makings to be an interesting final table.
Richard Ashby and Eugene Katchalov Battling for $10,000 HORSE Bracelet
The final table of the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. is down to their final five players. Richard Ashby is going for his 2nd WSOP bracelet of this series. He took the $1,500 Stud bracelet earlier in the WSOP. Eugene Katchalov is at his 2nd final table of this WSOP and is looking for his first WSOP bracelet. He already holds a WPT title and this would put him in elite company.
Doyle and Juanda Battle Via Twitter
John Juanda has had a monster WSOP so far with four final tables, but he has yet to walk away with a bracelet. Juanda tweeted the following earlier in the day:
“Will try to have $50K by 19:00; otherwise PLO8 maybe better opportunity4 me 2win a bracelet. Even though I’ve yet to figure out the game!:) “
Doyle Brunson had his thoughts about this:
“@LuckBoxJuanda Braclet? lol…u have to have gamble to win a braclet. Hang around, maybe you can make another final table.”
Not to be outdone, Juanda had the following statement for Brunson:
“@TexDolly Should I listen to someone who hasn’t cashed once!? My financial advisor said: NO!:-)”
Oops. Juanda does technically have a point, at least for WSOP 10.
