So I played and I went. I managed to last twice as long this year than last and avoided any brawls with the women at my table. YAY! That’s a victory in itself. I can tell you it was not the easy tournament I had imagined though.

I sat down in the 3 seat and 5 min later Maria Ho sat her ass down in the 1 seat. I love Maria so I was happy to have someone at my table I could talk to but I really didn’t want to see any pros. My 2nd hand of the tournament I was in the SB and looking down at 10 10. There are2 limpers at 25/25 and I raise to 150. The BB re-raises to 400 the 2 limpers fold and I make the call. Flop: 874 rainbow I check BB bets 500, I call. Turn: 3 I check again BB now bets 1100, I think and think and finally fold. She flashes me KK. YAY! NLD me! I hate having such a rough decision on an early hand. If she checks there she may have had my chips on the river. Few rounds go by and I continue to get shit cards until I look down at 10 10 again, this time UTG+1. I 3x it and Maria Ho in the BB re-raises me, I call. Flop comes K high and she leads out, I fold, she shows AK. Brutal. I win a few and lose a few here and there until after the 2nd break I’m down to about 8 BBs with 66 in the BB. A lady limps the SB folds and I check. Flop: 652 I lead out small, she raises I go all in she calls. Flip them up she has a set of 5′s to my set of 6′s COOLER!!! Time to double up! The dealer scoops a light pot to me and we have to call the floor to sort it out, eventually I get the 450 that is owed. Some boring moments and no real big hands later I’m short again. I manage to get a tripleup with10 10 in the BB vs A7. Before dinner I grind that up to 7200 which is just under avg but still decent shape about 18 BBs. After a yummy Thai meal in a hidden location near the Rio I head back to make sure I get to play my BB. A few hands after dinner on the button I call Marias raise with 66. Maria has been super active but also showing some major hands, AA several times, QQ a few times, AK, 88 at least 4 times, enough to make me jealous! Flop: 875 two spades, Maria bets I raise she tanks and folds asking if I have a flush draw. Nope. Next hand I play 88 terribly. Svetlana Gromenkova the 2008 Ladies Event winner and current chip leader raises in EP and I call from CU. Looking back and discussing the hand I regret not shoving over there. She has about70k in chips and I have nowhere to go when over cards flop and now Im lost in the hand. I lose some chips and fold on the turn. Back down to about 10 BB’s about 5k at 200/400. Maria shoves 4400 UTG andI go all-in behind. She flips up AQ I turn over 99. Its a race and the door card A pretty much locks it up and I never improve. Down to 600 chips I go all-in next hand with Q10. Maria calls out of the BB with J5 andI bump up to 1850. A round of the blinds and I’m at 3 BBs in the CU withQ4 spades. I shove button with A10 calls. The flop give us both a pair, an A and a 4. The turn gives me an extra draw throwing 2 spades out there. The river is a complete brick and bye-bye ladies! I busted about 250 when the money was at 117. Lame. Anyway I’m glad that if anyone got my chips it was Maria. She went on to cash the tourney and I vote she buys me a drink! Like the Chicago Cubs I’ll be waiting til next year to boost my WSOP results.

I did want to enter the UB last longer contest. My friend and I were all set to place our last longer bid betting the the loser would have to jump off the Stratosphere topless or in a bikini. Unfortunately we didn’t realize the deadline was June 8th and missed the entry. We are still happy to take any backers that would like to put us into the $1k and watch her jump off the Stratosphere topless or maybe in a bikini.
