Going for My First “WSOP Bracelet”
Peter Eastgate’s 2008 WSOP bracelet sold today at auction for $147,500. That is twice what it cost me to build my house new six years ago. So it is safe to say that I was never a serious contender for winning that auction. However, a new one caught my eye. Eskimo Clark’s 1999 WSOP Razz bracelet is being sold on Ebay. The current high bidder is…ME!!!
Yup, I am the current high bidder with $3,350. I blanked out my max bid as I don’t want you snipers going in and outbidding me. In all honesty, I don’t expect my high bid to hold either, but if it does, I will indeed put up the money and take down this piece of history. An no, I will not give Eskimo his bracelet back if I win it. I have nothing against the guy, but if I put up 3 G’s for his bracelet, I am keeping it.
Although, it will seem a bit odd if I win this auction. Back in 2007, I was present at the Stud 8 or Better event where he had a stroke. I was actually one of the guys that held the crowd back while they worked on him. He didn’t collapse as some people stated. He went to make a bet in a hand and his hand started shaking uncontrollably. A guy at his table realized immediately what was going down and rushed over and had another guy lay him down on the ground. We knew he had a stroke, but they weren’t going to come out and say it. The tournament was sent on break while they tended to him. Later, they told us that they were refunding his entry.
Later that series, Clark made the Razz final table and actually collapsed at the final table. That time, he signed a waiver to keep playing. I guess he felt another bracelet was more important than his life.
Do I really expect to win the bracelet? Chances are I won’t since there is still five days left. At least I gave it a shot, and who knows, maybe I can “win” my first WSOP bracelet.

Good luck, Comp. That piece of jewelry is certainly something to put away in a top drawer.
