It all came down to this night. Jonathan Duhamel with a nearly 6 to 1 chip lead over John Racener. Personally, I predicted this heads-up battle before the November Nine and was looking forward to the event. Unfortunately, what we got was pretty much a one sided affair with Duhamel pretty much picking up pots at will.

The only true bright spot for Racener was early on when he picked up pocket queens and Duhamel shoved against him with K-4. The board missed Duhamel and Racener had doubled up to around 36.9 Million at that point. Duhamel never really got anything going after that point. He steadily lost pots to Duhamel until he was down to about 13 Million. He had to then take a chance with Kd-8d and called an all-in from Duhamel who happened to pick up A-J. The board blanked, and it was all over.

After four months, Jonathan Duhamel is the World Champion of Poker. He will take home the gold championship bracelet and $8,944,310. After winning the event, he was heaved up by his fellow Canadians. Duhamel is now the first ever Canadian to win the Main Event.

So there you have it folks. The 2010 WSOP is now officially concluded. We have seen a lot of history this year capped by one of the best Main Event’s in recent memory. I still encourage all of you to watch the event tomorrow on ESPN. While the heads-up play was somewhat lackluster, the buildup to it is some of the most entertaining poker I have seen in a long time.
