2010 WSOP Main Event Final Update – Meet Your November Nine, Taking a Look Back, and Thanks
Hello out there all you poker junkies. Michael has turned the reins back over for my account and I will take you home for this final WSOP update.
After 8 days and 7,310 eliminations, we’re finally down to our November Nine. We got to the unofficial final table of 10 after Pascal LeFrancois was eliminated in 11th place. He ran Q-J into pocket kings and that was all she wrote.
Grinder Playing for the Win
Going into final-table play, Michael Mizrachi was the 2nd-shortest stack at 7.78 Million. Brandon Steven was the short stack with 3.3 Million. Many players might be tempted to nit up and try to make the November Nine but Mizrachi plays to win, and as such he stayed active at the final table.
He called down an all-in shove from Brandon Steven with middle pair and ran into top pair from Steven to double him up. A couple of hands later, he took down a nice pot against Matthew Jarvis to get back up around 8 Million.
He then did what he does best and proceeded to grind away at the table to push up to over 14 million.

Meet Your November Nine
Play continued well into the Las Vegas morning as we did not reach the November Nine until 5:40 a.m. PDT. Brandon Steven moved all-in with Ac-Ks and was called by Matthew Jarvis with pocket queens. The board fell ten-high and Brandon Steven became the final-table bubble boy, finishing in 10th.
After 8 days of play, we finally have our November Nine. Jonathan Duhamel is the “Dennis Phillips” of this year’s edition, heading in with 65.9 Million in chips. Michael Mizrachi heads into the final in “Phil Ivey” position as the third-shortest stack.
Only Duhamel and John Dolan sit above average in chips at present and six out of nine have less than 1/3rd of Duhamel’s stack. With blinds at 250,000/500,000 when we return, it will be interesting to see how quickly this final table plays out in November.
Here are your final nine players and their starting chip counts:
| Jonathan Duhamel |
65,975,000 |
| John Dolan |
46,250,000 |
| Joseph Cheong |
23,525,000 |
| John Racener |
19,050,000 |
| Matthew Jarvis |
16,700,000 |
| Filippo Candio |
16,400,000 |
| Michael Mizrachi |
14,450,000 |
| Soi Nguyen |
9,650,000 |
| Jason Senti |
7,625,000 |
A Quick Look Back
This has been an exciting Main Event and the November Nine promises to bring a lot of great stories, and maybe the greatest story in WSOP history should Michael Mizrachi find a way to take down the Main Event.
Overall, this has been an outstanding WSOP. Records have been set in attendance, prize pools, and more. We saw Phil Ivey take down his 8th bracelet and Men Nguyen take his 7th career bracelet.
We also saw Sammy Farha, Dutch Boyd, Tex Barch and Michael Mizrachi return to relevance in poker with bracelet wins. Last but not least, we saw Frank Kassela become the only multi-bracelet winner of 2010. He can do no worse than tie for Player of the Year should Mizrachi take down the Main Event.
Thanks
