200!
May 9th, 2009 is the day of my first “official” blog post on PokerJunkie.com. My first blog post was Tiffany Michelle – Do You Care? Since that point, I have been fortunate enough to go on to write a total of 200 posts including this one. Sometimes they are serious, sometimes they humorous, and sometimes I look back and wonder what I was smoking when I wrote a particular post.

I considered doing an elaborate production like Stargate SG-1 did with their 200th episode, but Poker Junkie gave away my budget in the Haiku contest.
I figured I would go back and give you my top 10 favorite blog posts here on Poker Junkie. Some of them may be among your favorites. If they aren’t drop me a line and let me know. Ok, on to the top 10:
#10. You Might Be a Poker Junkie – July 22nd, 2009
Right after the WSOP, I didn’t have much to talk about so I figured I would play off of Jeff Foxworthy’s “You might be a redneck” bit and come up with a “You might be a Poker Junkie.”
#9. Lets Talk About Poker and Sex, Baby – December 7th, 2009
I took a look at several poker terms and compared whether they worked better in poker or as sex terms.
#8. T.J. Cloutier Wins 2011 WSOP Main Event – December 14th, 2009
While this blog is an utter work of fiction, I really enjoyed writing it. While it is unlikely to happen, it would be nice to see this old rounder win the big one.
#7. Ivey’s WSOP Prop Bets – May Own Phil Gordon After the WSOP – August 7th, 2009
After making the November Nine final table, Phil Ivey made several prop bets and apparently Phil Gordon was going to be in some deep debt to Ivey had he won. Of course, Ivey didn’t win, but you got to check out the mock commercial.
#6. It’s Ivey’s World – We Just Fund It – June 16,2009
This was in the middle of the WSOP after Ivey won his 7th career bracelet. Some of them are not actually jokes. The last one actually happened at the 2008 WSOP. I was there and witness it.
#5. When Doyle Speaks – The Poker World Listens – May 23rd, 2009
Obviously the biggest controversy of 2009 was Russ Hamilton’s involvement with the AP and UltimateBet cheating scandal. Another topic of controversy was the interviews that Amarillo Slim conducted with Nolan Dalla. Slim claimed he was innocent of the child molestation charges he plead no contest to and that even his granddaughter and parents issued statements saying that what they said was a lie.
Doyle came out with his opinions on both. He vehemently defended Slim and then when it came to Hamilton, he said basically that he looked guilty. Read the blog to get the full story and to watch Hamilton dodge an interview attempt by Raw Vegas TV.
#4. All Your Chips are Belong to Us – November 28th, 2009
You will either get this blog and find it funny as hell, or you will just think I have lost my mind. A little hint: Do a search for “All Your Base Are Belong to Us” for historical significance.
#3. Top 10 Women Who Can Actually Play Poker – February 16, 2010
After Charlie Rivers highly bashed Top 10 Poker Babes List, I decided to do a list of RELEVANT women poker players. Check it out, and feel free to bash Charlie’s list some more.
#2. Happy Zombie Jesus Day – April 4th, 2010
I did a post on August 20th, 2009 titled Zombie Jesus Loves You and didn’t get a single comment or reply. However, the Happy Zombie Jesus Day post on Easter turned out to be the most controversial post I have ever done. I was called everything from an idiot, to a racist, and the “N” word was dropped in my direction.
Poker Junkie Matt Murphy had the best line from the reactions. He said “You just called a white guy a (N word) after accusing him of being a racist. Fucking Republicans.”
Just remember all, Zombie Jesus died for you.
#1. Judas Iscariot the Original Poker Brat? – March 17, 2010
Yes, I sometimes like to push the religion envelope a bit. This was a humorous piece I put together after seeing a pic on Barry Greenstein’s Facebook. I was surprised that I did not get more negative reaction about the piece, but many took it how it was intended. Maybe I should send a copy to Doyle.
Honorable Mention – I will give honorable mention to my Merry Christmas just for the fact it has a hot redhead.
It has been an honor and an absolute blast writing for Poker Junkie for nearly a year now. I also appreciate the feedback from all you Poker Junkie’s, both good and bad. I look forward to the next 200 posts and beyond.
