The Women in Poker Hall of Fame announced their 2010 class last week and, as I figured, my two picks were inducted into the Hall along with someone else I never heard of.

Jennifer Harman was to me an obvious choice due to the fact that she is clearly the best all around female player on the planet. She is the only woman to consistently play at the high limits of Bobby’s Room year in and year out and is the only woman in history to have 2 open WSOP bracelets.

Kathy Liebert is the all-time women’s money winner and clearly the best female NL Holdem tournament player on the planet. While she gets knocked for not being proficient in all the games, her record in NL speaks for itself. If Phil can be inducted in the regular hall, Kathy can be inducted here.

I would be lying if I told you I knew who Billie Brown was. Until I saw she was nominated, I had never heard of her. She was the first person to create a live tournament with a guarantee prize pool and her events were drawing huge crowds long before the poker boom. I equate this to a “Veterans Committee” selection in baseball. However, it is still a helluva accomplishment.

Was drawing big crowds to events before Chris Moneymaker could spell poker.

The big argument for next year will be whether Annie Duke will get into the Women’s Hall of Fame. One of the requirements is that the inductee must support women’s events, and Annie clearly does not. Personally, I think her poker prowess should get her in above her politics, but we will see what a year brings.

In the meantime, congratulations to the 2010 Women in Poker Hall of Fame class.
