IOC Accepts Poker as a Sport
EXTRA: The International Olympic Committee will approve poker as a sport when poker becomes a member of the International Mind Sports Association in April.
This is great news for all poker lovers out there, and the man bringing it is no one else than Anthony “Holdem” Holden, chairman of the International Poker Federation.
During a conference in Dubai in April, the International Federation of Poker will be accepted as a member of IMSA, International Mind Sports Association.
Since IMSA is recognized by IOC, once poker is part of IMSA it will automatically be accepted as a sport by IOC.
This is fantastic news for our ill-treated old game. It doesn’t mean that poker will be an Olympic game, not at all. Neither chess or bridge is, as we all know.
But it does put poker in the right place, among similar fine mind games like chess, bridge and checkers (draughts).
This breakthrough will finally snatch poker away from the evil law makers who tirelessly struggle to keep poker shut down in the same prison cell as worthless casino games like roulette, baccarat and craps.
When this goes through, it will be a great, great, great day for poker.
And Anthony Holden will be my hero forever.
Everybody, hold your breath!

PS This information is still unconfirmed. I’m looking like crazy for the original source. Unfortunately the IPF doesn’t even seem to have a web site.
