PartyPoker Limits Play Chips – Do You Care?
I was reading an article on PokerNewsDaily just now regarding how that PartyPoker has changed their play money policies to prevent players from having an excessive amount of play money chips. The primary reason is due to many unethical players that obtain chips from a third party source and have them chip dumped to them.
I understand PartyPoker’s thinking here regarding wanting to prevent people from trying to sell play money chips etc. What I don’t get is the

Cena can't see why people are upset over play chip limitation either.
se players that are upset over this face. One lady and her husband amassed 182 Million chips between the two of them. Why??? I understand only playing on the play money side. I really do, but who cares if you have 80 Million or 250,000.
Personally, I have played my share of free poker on both PartyPoker and PokerStars. It can be fun, but I am not going to be upset if I could only get 250,000 in play chips. It’s FAKE MONEY. It like wrestling. The only difference is that you don’t have hot divas.
And no, I did not watch the Grammy’s last night. I could care less about Lady Gaga.

The play money games are deemed as “practive” before going to real money.. However, what prevents a reset of your real money? Can you imagine the hell you would have to endure trying to recover your money? For those who did not buy chips , and lost them, this resetting business has been quite irritating. Common sense —-chip sellers buy advertising space—-if you buy you will lose money when reset(all profit)—then they want you to buy again to avoid the 5,000 dollar 5 minute wait policy. DO NOT BUY FAKE CHIPS!!!!

Really? You can’t have a good game 250,000 play chips. That’s kinda funny to me.

My thought is if Party Poker does not want other people making money off of the selling of the play chips, why do the not just sell them? The could allow only the people who buy from them to keep their chips and make money at the same time. I have been playing for many years because I can’t play for real. Now the game SUCKS. Just a thought.

wow half of you are retarded, lol. The individual should care about his own things’ and his chips does matter, even if they are play chips. it is thier idea of fun. It sounds like party poker did do a violation by taking away peoples fun. its kinda like if your favorite game off a website is missing. i dont play with fun chips but if i did i would be upset. that is just a bad way to do business. not everything is about money. and if that’s all someone cares about they are really really lame, like partypoker. I play at Absolute poker with real money and still feel sorry for the players of party poker. RONPAUL 4 president 2012

you don’t keep count, then what’s the reason for a count .. what makes 250 k significant? How about 3? Let’s play for 3!
compncards October 22, 2010 at 9:12 am
There should be an option under cashier to reload play money chips. If you can’t find it, might want to check help.

Hi guys, this might be a stupid question but how can you getmore play money chips? im down to 37 in my account so i cant play sum of the bigger play tournaments. thanks

You call me a moron, but you still have not proven where people have been harmed. Just because someone going all-in every hand takes away from the game, technically it is still within the rules. As far as them having a vested interest in the chip selling sites, where is your proof? Your opinion about their having an interest does not classify as proof. Your “time is money” argument doesn’t apply here. Play money chips have never been worth money, even when there were no caps. You can’t claim that something is worth money when it has never been worth money. The people that sell chips did so against the TOS for the site.

Party Poker does generate money just as any website generates money. ADVERTISEMENT!!! Now sure play money accounts are just that play money. So while you may have no monetary investment, there is an old saying…………”time is MONEY” And my fricken time is worth something. Not to mention it takes away from the play in general. Due to these limits there is always someone with the $5000 starting chip amount going all in every hand. You can’t tell me they aren’t making money coming and going. You and I both know they have some vested interest in these play money chip site SELLING chips to play on their poker site. So to compncards, don’t attempt practicing law, when you clearly have no knowlegde of it. Moron!

Actually Daz, the reason they did that was primarily because that people were selling fake money chips.
Daz August 21, 2010 at 3:10 am
I had payed real money for fake chips just cause it fun to play with heaps of chips. Over the past year i had payed $150 US. The day B4 they reset the accounts i had payed $25 US to buy 10mill worth of chips. Now that’s bullshit. In some way they had stolen real money of me. They are Ass holes.
tommy June 9, 2010 at 9:20 pm
they take my chips all the time even though i won them fare and sq.my wife and i are sick of it.when they first started out they could not get enough players now they are a big concern they dont care about the people who cant afford to play real money games. ihope the newspapers get hold of this story
compncards May 2, 2010 at 12:08 am
They don’t care. Play money accounts are not making them money, so they could care less.
turtlee23333 May 1, 2010 at 9:19 pm
If party poker steals your play chips… I don’t think they can be trusted with my real money….
It is very unsetting to play responsibly and earn chips only to have them stolen by Party Poker the next time you log in….
I for one will be cancelling my account, and removing the program from my computer!@

I have been playing no limit holdem for about 6 years, starting with Party Poker. Because of the abusive language of some players and because Party Poker would not provide customer support to the people with play chip accounts, I went to Full Tilt for a while. When I went back to Party Poker and found out that I no longer had the 90 million chips I had left in my bank. And when I complained to PP customer service. saying I wanted them back, they refused. I actually felt violated, as funny as that may sound. I won my chips fairly. It was common knowledge that some people cheated by buying fake chips. So what? Why should they care? They’re only fake. But they were MINE and they took them from me!
Senzascapi February 26, 2010 at 2:55 pm
I agree with Gosta. I lost 19m. Least they could do is give you 100k each time for no limit. The worst part is that they didn’t even tell you what they were doing and wouldn’t answer email queries.
compncards February 22, 2010 at 9:30 pm
Seriously? You are debating the merits of them taking away fake chips? So what if they just decided to ban your account because you never made a deposit? Would you still argue that they are breaking the law? Fake chips are not virtual assets. They are the equivalent of a scoring on a video game, which is what Party Poker could argue for their free site. It’s a glorified video game and chips keep the score. Since they have no monetary value, there is nothing of value lost. Even IF they were breaking the law…..who is going to prosecute them. Judge “How have you been damaged?” You: “They took all of my poker chips.” Judge “How much monetary value did they have?” You: “None. But that is not the case here.” Judge: “That is the case here as far as I am concerned. Since they have no monetary value, you have not been harmed in any substantial way. Case dismissed. Epic Fail.”
Vin February 22, 2010 at 11:16 am
Guys. all the chips in your accounts are your virtual assets. Virtual asset is legal now. They can not just take our personal assets away without owers’ authorization. THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW.

Well it all boils down to conversion and money. Websites have the play sites as ways to try and entice people to come play on the real money side. Even then, about a 10% conversion rate is all they get. If you are not a paying customer, most sites don’t care about you. To think about it, who do you think they are going to listen to, someone that plays nothing but play money games and contributes nothing to the bottom line, or someone that has made a deposit and playing for real money. Sadly, that is what it is all about.
Leo February 14, 2010 at 9:38 pm
I could care less that I lost my $20m accumulated over the last year of play. The rub is that if you hit even a short bad streak and lose your chips, you are pretty much out of no limit for a while. You have to wait 5 minutes to get another piddly $5k in chips. At the no limit table, that’ll get you one hand. If you don’t win that hand, you sit for another 5 min waiting for a timed re-buy. More trouble than the site is worth; I’m done with them.
Gösta February 4, 2010 at 1:53 pm
LOL. So, there are actually people who take those games seriously? Takes all kinds…
