Women Suck at Poker and So Does Doyle

Annette Obrestad apparently forgot to read the book How to Win Friends and Influence People. I ran across some articles regarding an interview that Annette Obrestad did with ESPN where she claimed that when playing women:

“It’s easy money… I’ve always said that girls suck at poker. I say that because they do. Maybe they just aren’t as competitive and don’t try to learn from their mistakes”

Later when talking about Doyle Brunson, she insinuated that he had a big ego when stating

“Online players process information so much faster and don’t let their egos get in the way of becoming a better player. No disrespect to Doyle, but I’d rather play him.”

First, I think there are many female players that would line up to challenge her assumption that women players suck. I’m sure Kathy Liebert, Vanessa Selbst, and others might just be happy to take her to the woodshed so to speak.

Take away her WSOP-E Main Event bracelet and what has Obrestad done in live poker? Her live resume does not scream live poker superstar, regardless of the hype.

Of course, good ol’ Doyle might literally take her out to the woodshed to lay down a proper spanking, and not the fun type some of you pervs out there are thinking.

Now, I will admit that Doyle is beginning to show the signs of age catching up to him, but until Obrestad proves she is capable of recreating past successes, she might want to hold off on bashing other players.

    Wow, I love your comments. :-) I watched Annette this summer at the WSOP and wasn’t all that impressed. Also, nice dig into TM there.

    When I first heard of Annette Obrestad, I thought to myself, “Yay! Finally a girl who can win big and prove that women can play poker too.” When I actually saw her play I thought, “…What a bitch.” I consider myself a decent poker player but I know I am in no position to insult veterans of the game, seeing as how I am only 21. Somehow, though, Annette believes that because she won a tournament across the ocean, she can come over here and try to insult every poker player she comes across who plays differently than her. To me, she is the female Phil Helmuth, except I have respect for Helmuth because he is good. So, I really just think of her as another Tiffany Michelle (God, I hate that woman!). I will say though, women do pretty much suck at poker, but Obrestad is stupid to blame it on a lack of effort or desire. Women are just emotional creatures, and emotion does not mix well with poker. I could go on and on about how much Obrestad needs to be put in her place, but I do not have the time. I shall leave everyone with this: if you are not already watching the “Doubles Poker Championship” on GSN every Saturday, then start. She was teemed up with Huck Seed. Basically, he made a good read and bet because of it with the best hand, and his “teammate” Annette started scolding him because she didn’t agree with it and just berated him on national television. Huck Seed has been playing poker for longer than she has been alive, he made the right read, the right bet, and she didn’t follow through so they ended up chopping the pot. So in conclusion… what a bitch.
