Day 3 of my trip was bluntly pretty dull.  Started the day in Oklahoma and drove to Texas.  Basically, Texas is pretty much open country outside of the city.  Fields for as far as the eye can see pretty much sums it pretty well.

I wonder if Helmuth popcorn can dodge bullets too...

About the only “interesting” thing about my drive through Texas was the popcorn I picked up at Stuckey’s convenience store.  It was “Helmuth” brand popcorn.  While the name isn’t spelled the same I thought it would be kinda cute to be able to say “I ate Helmuth today.”

Wait, that sounds extremely pervy.  Scratch that.

I finally got to what is normally my favorite state to drive through in New Mexico.  I really like the countryside and the rock formations, etc. Unfortunately, the state has decided to repair every part of I40 that needs to be repair AT THE SAME TIME.  Also, one of the rest stops I like to stop and take pics at was closed.  Bitches.

At least this time I made it through Albuquerque without incident.  Last summer, I escaped being thrown over a guard rail by a tractor and trailer by a split second.  This year it wasn’t raining, I stayed in the CENTER lane, and I steered clear of big rigs.  Paranoid yes, but I don’t like almost dying.

Anywho, I made it into Arizona and am staying in a little town called Holbrook.  The Holiday Inn is full, so I went looking for a hotel.  All the rest of the hotels look like hooker hotels.  For those that are not sure what I am talking about, I am talking about the design where the hotel rooms open up in the outdoors instead of being contained indoors.  The only place that wasn’t like this was…Super 8.  Yay.

This room sucks.  It’s a Super 8 room.  What do I expect.  I just didn’t feel like driving till 3 a.m. like I did yesterday.

I have about 6 and a half hours of driving left.  Going to detour Hoover Dam so I can save time.  If I go through Hoover Dam, the “hour” I save in driving will be replaced with up to 4 hours of waiting.
